I welcomed the new year this year as i went to Taiwan in Jiufen this January 1 to visit the famous inspiration of the location of Hayao Miyazaki’s film Spirited Away.
Then after that, i went straight to Manila for the Philippines shoot of the movie Come on Irene.
I got reminded by my trip to Taiwan, because our movie ‘killing’ will also go to taiwan.
Through the most important Film event in taiwan, The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival.
Killing will be screened in Taipei on November 17 and 18 which will be followed with a Q&A with the Director himself, Director Shinya Tsukamoto. As part of the Film Maker in Focus Section
Other celebrated films of Shinya Tsukamoto that will be screened in Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival 2018 include
Kotoko (11.10 and 11.14)
Tetsuo: The Iron Man ( 11.13 and 11.18)
Tetsuo II: Body Hammer ( 11.13 and 11.18)
A Snake of June (11.16 and 11.18)
After the screening in Taiwan, Killing will finally come back to home. It will have the Japan Premiere on November 24.
Director Shinya Tsukamoto’s film Nightmare Detective 2 was my first work, and now my last work as a Lighting Director is also with his movie Killing.
This reminded me of my thoughts about journeys in life; that they are dots that are meant to be connected as we pave our way through challenges and accomplishments. Even moments in our life.
Right now i feel like a line in my life has succesfully been connected. Through my first and last project is with Director Shinya Tsukamoto, i welcomed the year in Taiwan and Killing going there.
And so, this only reveals to me one certain thing. It is that i have to start a new Line in my life, where i have to connect new dots again. And as i welcome changes in my life, i would like to hold on to this;
“You can’t connect the dots looking backwards;
You can only connect them looking forward.
So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”
